The Person
A background in marketing is essential, as is experience of working in a fast-moving, dynamic company. The successful person will be a professional and confident team player who is organised and capable of solving problems innovatively. He/She must be highly IT literate with a good grasp of all Microsoft Office applications and with experience of using CRM software to organise and market to contacts. Experience of using Google Analytics to manage SEO and Google Adwords is essential - expertise in these areas would be a distinct advantage.
A major part of the job relates to promoting Robertson Cooper’s products and services, so the jobholder must be able to absorb technical information readily and apply it in marketing-related conversations with suppliers, clients and prospects. Being able to think ahead to anticipate problems and opportunities is essential. In addition, the ability to write about the products and services clearly and concisely is desirable.
The successful candidate will be very flexible and prepared to do day-to-day tasks (e.g. answering incoming calls when others are busy and preparing materials prior to marketing events), as well as the more challenging aspects of the role (e.g. attending and organising marketing events, working with PR Agencies and the media). Applicants must be comfortable working with busy and demanding senior consultants and should have experience of managing relationships with external agencies/suppliers.
Most important is that you are a self-starter who has a positive attitude and is motivated by achieving sales and marketing goals. You should be interested in business development and care about the results that your marketing efforts deliver for the company. In a busy environment where colleagues are often stretched, you need to be able to make things happen without always relying on others.
You will need to have at least 2 years experience in a similar role that involved devising, implementing and coordinating marketing activities. You should be educated to at least A-Level standard and have a good level of written English.
